Steamed Pudding Recipe

Steamed Pudding known to my family as boiled pudding is definitely my favourite dessert!

This is my mother in law Joy's recipe, she has been making it for the family for years and so it has become a very firm family favourite.

It is such an easy and simple dessert to make, taking hardly any time at all.

Ingredients

1 cup self raising flour
1 egg lightly beaten
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons golden syrup

Method

Beat the lightly beaten egg and sugar together, then add the melted butter and golden syrup and mix well.

Sieve the flour before folding the flour and the milk together alternatively, again mixing well. Place mixture into a greased pudding bowl and steam in a large saucepan or boiler for
1 3/4 hours.

Serve hot with custard or cream or ice cream and enjoy.

I have seen some family members (not mentioning any names) to have all three, that's right custard, cream and ice cream on this dessert!

Personally I prefer just hot custard on mine!

It tastes just as good cold, if it lasts that long that is!

HINT: As with all recipes today, you can change products such as butter and milk etc into low fat options and it doesn't make any difference to the taste and texture of this very yummy dessert.

This is a recipe that both of my daughters Alexandra and Stephanie make all the time for their family and friends. Their children (my four grandchildren) particularly love it. The children love licking the bowls clean as well as eating the pudding!
