Lady Alice Biscuits

Lady Alice Biscuits - these biscuits are simple, easy and delicious. This particular recipe belongs to my cousin Lee. Recently I visited her at her home for a week and during that time we made these biscuits together. I took this photograph of the finished biscuits, they look good, don't they?

This is a very old recipe hence the imperial measurements. I have converted, as close as possible, to metric for you.

Ingredients

6 ounces (170 grams) self raising flour
2 ounces (55 grams) icing sugar
2 ounces (55 grams) custard powder
6 ounces (85 grams) butter (room temperature)

Method

Sift dry ingredients together, rub in butter, work until mixed well.

These biscuits are meant to go through a biscuit forcer, which is what I did with the ones in the photograph above, but you could also roll into small balls pressing down lightly with a fork .

Place on a paper lined baking tray and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees fahrenheit or 180 degrees celsius) for about 15 minutes.

You can serve them as is, or sandwich together with icing sugar.

Which ever way you will enjoy them!
