Types of Biscuits

Soft Dough Biscuits

• Drop Biscuits
• Shaped Biscuits
• Pressed Biscuits

Drop biscuits are what many people make from scratch at home. Sticky dough is picked up with a spoon and simply dropped onto a cookie sheet before baking. Shaped biscuits are made with soft dough that isn't as sticky, and each cookie is shaped by hand before baking. Pressed biscuits are shaped through a baking press, so they can look more professional.

Firm Dough Biscuits

There are three basic types of biscuits that are made from firmer dough:

• Ice Box Biscuits
• Moulded Biscuits
• Rolled Biscuits

These are some of the more creative biscuit types to play with in the kitchen. Ice box biscuits are refrigerated so they become very firm before baking. The firm dough may be sliced before baking for perfect shaping. Moulded biscuits are often formed into balls before baking, but can be moulded into other shapes as well. Rolled biscuits are flattened with a rolling pin, and then cookie cutters are used to create fun shapes prior to baking.

One of my all time favourite easy cookie recipes has no official name.

It is my cousin Rhonda's recipe and in my family she is sometimes known as Maccie, hence the family know them as Maccie's Biscuits

They take no time at all to make and I have never seen anyone who can resist them.
