Best Biscuit Recipe

Maccie's Biscuit Recipe

This easy best biscuit recipe has just four ingredients, all of which are pantry staples.

They taste delicious and have a real creamy buttery flavour.

They are simple and easy to make and take no time at all to prepare, so you can have them on your wire rack to cool in less than half an hour.

Ingredients

250 grams melted butter
1 cup sugar
2 cups self raising flour
1 lightly beaten egg

Preparation

Mix together the dry ingredients, then add the lightly beaten egg and the melted butter.

Grease baking tray and, although I prefer mine cooked on a greased baking tray, you could, if you like also line the tray with baking paper. It just makes doubly sure that they don't stick.

Using a teaspoon measure, spoon the mixture onto the baking tray, making sure you leave enough room for them to spread.

Place into an oven that has been preheated to 180 degrees celsius and cook for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Hint: These biscuits can burn very quickly so it is very important not to over cook them.

They are delicious just out of the oven or cold.

My daughter Alexandra adds chocolate chips to her mixture for a different taste and because the biscuit have chocolate in them, her children enjoy them even more.

For something different you could add flaked nuts, almonds are good, or maybe even dried fruit such as sultanas or raisins.

You could also drizzle melted chocolate in a zig zag effect over the biscuits, now that looks great, very professional!

These biscuits need to be stored in an airtight container, as it helps to keep them fresh for longer.
